Dr. Maria T. Gentile
Osteopathic Physician
Dr. Gentile is a board-certified Osteopathic
Manipulative Medicine (OMM) Specialist. She dedicated
her latter years of study to this profession after osteopathic
treatment helped her recover from a serious whiplash
injury resulting from a motor vehicle accident in December
1992. Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Gentile
stayed in her home town to complete a Bachelor's and
a Master's degree in Microbiology. She worked as a microbiology
supervisor and breast cancer researcher at Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Center in NYC and completed her Premedical study
at Hunter College, also in New York.
Dr. Gentile attended medical school at
the University of North Texas Health Science Center/Texas
College of Osteopathic Medicine where she remained an
extra year to train in and teach OMM as a Predoctoral
Teaching Fellow. After medical school, Dr. Gentile completed
a Traditional Internship in a Family Practice program
at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, N.J. She then attended
and graduated from an American Osteopathic Association
(A.O.A) accredited Residency in Neuromusculoskeletal
and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at St. Barnabas
Hospital in Bronx, N.Y.
While at St. Barnabas, a 466 bed, level
1 trauma center, Dr. Gentile's duties included the evaluation
and treatment of newborns in the nursery, mothers before
and after delivery, children on the pediatric wards,
medical, surgical and trauma patients in the intensive
care unit and on the patient floor as well as the operation
of 3 outpatient continuing care clinics.
Dr. Gentile is interested in the integration
of standard and alternative medical philosophies. She
has been certified by the American Board of Holistic
Medicine and is a member of the American Holistic Medical
Association. With the opening of her practice, Dr. Gentile
has fulfilled her dream of practicing Osteopathy in beautiful
Colorado.
Lauren
J. Ramsay, PA-C
Physician's Assistant and Office Manager
Lauren brings greater than 20 years of
medical experience to our practice, having started her
career in healthcare as an EMT/Paramedic in 1980. She
returned to college in 1994 to advance her medical knowledge,
culminating in her graduation from The University of
Colorado Health Sciences Center Child Health Associate/Physician
Assistant Program in 2000. She earned her Masters of
Science degree in 2004 with the completion of a randomized
trial comparing rates of jaundice in newborns given early,
frequent and exclusive breastfeeding to those following
standard hospital and home care feeding regimens. Since
beginning practice as a PA, Lauren has worked in the
hospital setting with newborns and children, and in a
children's shelter. She has recently served as a project
manager for a large National Cancer Institute funded
lung cancer screening trial site at the University of
Colorado. In addition to pediatric care, she is interested
in an integrative and holistic approach to medicine and
hopes to add to the growing body of research in this
area.
